The most challenging event of 2012!

'NEW' 2012 WATER RUN EVENT

Join Water for Africa and Ollie Mason in 'The Water Run' 2012

Ollie Mason aged 22 from Welshpool  has set himself a daunting task of walking 1000 miles from John O'Groats to Lands End (Around 1000 MIles) whilst carrying 20 litres of water unaided (unaided meaning: no rucksack or support... as you would imagine someone in a third world carrying it). As well as carrying the water, he will be be living off a meagre diet, equivalent to the typical daily food consumption of someone living in the developing world, on less than $1.00 a day!

Ollie himself says 'It is a daunting task and sometimes i do have to pinch myself to make sure my sanity is constrained to reality, but the more and more i train and the more and more i plan and organise the stronger my desire and drive to complete my journey increases. I have allot i need to do physically & mentally over the next year in order to complete this journey in 60 days from the 5th of july 2012, but there is more i need to keep in mind, this walk may only be 60 days but that isnt it... i will be dedicating around 1 year and a half into gathering support and help as well the energy & strength to finish.'

We at Water for Africa are working with Ollie to set up major 'Water Run' Events around the towns and cities on his route.  We encourage all of our supporters to Contact Us to let us know if you are interested in joining Ollie on any part of his walk.

We aim to organise 5km 'Water Run' events at specific towns and cities and encourage as many people, families, children, schools and companies to prepare their teams to be sponsored to walk 5km, carrying as much water as possible. Fortunately Ollie is walking in the Summer of 2012, so hopefully it will be more fun if you get wet along the way.   You can register to walk the whole day with Ollie, or indeed the whole journey, but we chose 5km, as this is the average daily distance a women or child has to walk to collect water in Africa.

Please visit Ollie's Website at www.thewaterrun.com and support him.  If you feel inspired to join him on the whole journey, he would be delighted to welcome you on-board.

We will be setting up a new website very soon, so you can register for each event. To sponsor Ollie for Water for Africa, please click on:
