Cath Kidston Flip Flops Distributed by In Kind Direct Changes our Beneficiaries Lives
Flip flops distributed by In Kind Direct make a huge impact in communities supported by Water for Africa
Water for Africa has received a large donation of Cath Kidston flip flops to aid our work in the Gambia. The stock was donated to In Kind Direct for onward distribution to UK charities. Water for Africa was able to provide footwear for over 3,800 women and children through their range of development projects in West Africa and The Gambia, principally focused on developing sustainable water sources. The donation contained new items entirely fit for purpose, but which could not be sold due to a small issue with the printed pattern.
Sheryl Greentree, Trustee at Water for Africa said:
“We have started by visiting orphanages and women’s groups, including HIV groups. The response has been truly overwhelming, from both the children and the women.”
“One woman cried and said that now she has footwear, she can now go and pray at the mosque, she had to stop as she did not have anything to walk in. It is truly heartwarming to be able to change so many lives in such a positive way. When we give the children their own pair of flip flops, they hold on to them so tightly. The boys are also totally unconcerned by the ‘flowery printing’!”
“Cath Kidston […] have made hundreds of women and children so very happy!”
James Williams, Deputy CEO at In Kind Direct said:
“It was great to work with Cath Kidston to ensure that goods not suitable for sale could have such a positive social impact. We are delighted that the stock donation has made a difference to the communities supported by Water for Africa.”
