Latest News October 2009

We are delighted to announce that work is underway to fill our latest container with supplies for water drilling and medical supplies and equipment for the antenatal clinic.

The trustees are in the process of packing and receiving orders to load a 20ft container to be delivered to the docks in Tilbury, Kent, where it will enjoy a three week journey across the seas to the capital of The Gambia, Banjul.

Among the items being shipped are:

An Ultrasound machine, examination couches stainless steel trolleys, an infant incubator, an autoclave, pulseoximeters, centrifuge, syringes, dressings, etc, donated by Hilditch Auctioneers.  Baby cot sheets, vets and electronic baby weighing scales, donated by Tesco.

We are also loading drilling supplies, casings, screens, gravel pack, etc for our borehole drilling and truck spares for our Bedford Trucks, which we use when drilling.

We are also sending over many bags of clothes, including children and baby clothes, children’s toys and stationery items for school.

It is hoped that the items will be in The Gambia for the end of November 2009.

We will be then very close to opening the new clinic; we just need to fund-raise to buy the medicines for the pharmacy.

May we take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us in filling this container with desperately needed items, for healthcare and water provision.

Any further donations and support will always be welcomed with heartfelt thanks and a big smile!

Sheryl Greentree, Trustee
